DESIGN PHASE: The 3D MODEL
For this project we didn’t start with a 3D model (.STEP .SLDPRT or .STL). We received the image on the right and we were given a sample of the product.
It took us 3 days to copy the design and prepare the file.
Once you are happy with the 3D model, we send the 3D model to a slicing software that will send instructions to the printer to start production.
3D PRINTING
Printed Part!
This is the Bottle just out of the printer! This part was printed with a 2.0 mm nozzle and makes for a Medium Resolution. It is made out of a plastic called ABS, it will keep its structural integrity for many years!
We printed this part in tow separate part, and we epoxy them together. We this this because we can safe production time by printing each half in a separate printer, reducing the overall time by 50%. Other times when a part is very large its just necesary to cut it in different sections.
POST PROCESSING
Sanding & Priming
Surface work is important, that is why we have a whole department dedicated to post processing. We already made your print structurally strong, now we will make it look good. Using specially chosen fillers and sanding the printed seams will make your product just as you envisioned.
Painting
When the surface work is done we proceed to add the Primer.
Priming or undercoat is a preparatory coating put on materials before painting. Priming ensures better adhesion of paint to the surface, increases paint durability, and provides additional protection for the material being painted.
There are some types of primer that are reinforced with Carbon Fiber or Glass Fiber for extra strength.
Labels
And finally painting, this chair was painted with a bone white color, that seals the project, to the specifications of our client.
